Jessie's Coming Home this coming week after nine months at Duke University! Yeah!!! 

Jessie was in the hospital this past weekend for surgery.  They found water around her heart, so they went in to try to drain it, but were not successful as it was too far behind her heart to reach.  So they have been treating her with Lasix to try to draw the water out.  They did another echo today of her heart and it's improved slightly.  They released her from the hospital today, so they are back at the apartment.  Now they have to wait until thursday this week for an

Spoke to Adam today and he said Jessie is slowly getting better and they may be able to head home in August.  She had her speech therapy, physical therapy and occupational therapy today.  She is still on TPN, but they have lowered her dose.  As long as she continues to put on weight, they can continue to lower her dose of TPN and hopefully will soon be completely off it. Adam is keeping his spirits up as best as he can.

Jessie has been out of the hospital for about 10 days now and is progressing little by little.  She is at the apartment with Adam and Cindy.  Adam can now take on a second job as a nurse as he has to draw her blood from her central line and infuse her TPN for her.  She is still on total parenteral nutrition, but the doctors have reduced it, which is a good sign.  The more she can take in orally, the more

I spoke to Adam today and he updated me on Jessie's status.  Jessie is finally on the upswing after several weeks of dealing with Graft Versus Host Disease.  The lining of her stomach was inflamed which was making her very sick and unable to eat or take her meds.

I am a good friend of the family.  Her computer at the hospital doesn't work so well, so I am doing the blog for Cindy. 

I spoke to Cindy yesterday and she wanted me to let everyone know that Jessie is engrafting the transplant.  She is still not feeling up to par and still in lots of pain, but is improving day by day and the doctors are very hopeful.
